Maiden, Mother, Crone

Hooray! It’s finally finished! Just in time to start a new one ;)

This is a new vector image I’ve been working on for some time, that I am happy to be able to share with you. The three woman are representative of a neopagan, wiccan goddess known as the Maiden, Mother, Crown. She is often symbolized as the moon in it’s three phases of waxing, full, and waning.

She’s an important symbol, as many aspects of neo-paganism pay homage to the natural cycles of life and nature. Like the seasons in a year, the three woman represent three important phases in a woman’s life. The Maiden, represents youth and anticipation, the mother, fertility and new life, the crone, wisdom and the end of a successful cycle.

While I am not a Wiccan myself, I can appreciate the idea of such a symbol. All three life phases co-existing in the same being gives the impression of a never ending process. It becomes clear that, while birth will inevitably lead to death, death too, must unavoidably return to birth.

give your crone a wise smile. I am going through the change, I am told it is a sad time, but I want to celebrate. Being a crone is not that bad, please make her more knowing
